About DietRight.ai
An independent directory of AI-powered diet and nutrition tools — built because nearly every other ranking in this space is written by someone selling one of them.
The problem
AI nutrition tools have multiplied faster than anyone can keep track of. Search for the best one and you'll mostly find pages published by companies that rank their own product first, or affiliate round-ups ordered by commission rather than by fit.
Meanwhile the basics are genuinely hard to establish. Pricing is often undisclosed until signup. "AI-powered" gets attached to products with no AI in them. Apps shut down without notice and their listings linger for years.
Who's behind this

I'm William J. Waddell, and I built this site. Let me be straight about what I am and what I'm not.
I'm not a nutritionist, and nothing here is medical advice — every page says so, and I mean it. What I am is someone who spent years diagnosing complex systems for a living. Before I moved into building websites full-time, I ran a construction and property-maintenance business, worked as a leak detector, and did commercial analysis on plumbing and electrical systems — the kind of work where a building insists everything's fine and your job is to find the problem actually hidden inside the walls. I wrote preventative-maintenance procedures for systems that didn't fit the standard playbook.
That's the same instinct behind DietRight. This space is full of apps claiming "our AI analyzes your metabolism," and most "best AI diet app" lists are written by the apps' own marketing teams. I got tired of that. So I do the boring part: I check whether the "AI-powered" claim is real or just a label on a basic lookup, and whether the facts on each listing hold up. That's research and verification, not a clinical judgment — and after three years learning to build software and a career spent pulling complex systems apart, it's the part I'm actually good at.
This is one of the first products I've brought to the public since making web development my full-time work. The promise is narrow and honest: real research rigor applied to a category full of vague claims. You decide what's right for your body — I just make sure the information you're deciding from is straight.
What we do about it
We research each product individually and record what we can actually verify — what it does, what it costs, which platforms it runs on, and when we last checked. Where we can't confirm something, we leave it blank instead of guessing.
109 tools are currently listed. Every one has been checked by hand, and none of them paid to be here.
What we don't do
- We don't build or sell a nutrition app, so we have nothing to steer you toward.
- We don't accept payment for placement, ranking or wording.
- We don't publish ratings we can't justify with a stated method.
- We don't give medical advice.
